AgrigateOne is proud to announce that we have been awarded third prize in the Distribution and Delivery category at the UNIDO Global Call FoodTech Awards 2024.
The awards ceremony, held in Seoul, South Korea, celebrates innovative solutions addressing critical challenges in the global food system. Launched by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in 2020, the Global Call is a flagship initiative that highlights companies driving sustainable industrial development and contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year’s theme, “FOODTECH Innovation and ISID: Nourishing the Future”, emphasised the transformative role of FoodTech in revolutionising the food industry.
As UN Secretary-General António Guterres highlighted in his remarks, “Global food systems are broken – and billions of people are paying the price. More than 780 million people are going hungry while nearly one-third of all food produced is lost or wasted. Unsustainable food production, packaging, and consumption are feeding the climate crisis, generating one-third of all greenhouse gas emissions…” At AgrigateOne, we’re taking action to address these systemic challenges with technology that reduces food waste, improves resource efficiency, and lowers the environmental footprint of agriculture.
With 228 applicants spanning 55 nations across five continents, AgrigateOne stood out for its innovative solutions to digitise processes, provide predictive insights, and promote sustainable practices. The recognition highlights our commitment to developing scalable and impactful solutions that empower stakeholders across the perishable supply chain and contribute to global sustainability efforts.
As part of the recognition we received through UNIDO's FoodTech and Global Call award, we focused on aligning our work with key SDGs. At AgrigateOne, we’re committed to creating measurable, meaningful change across the agricultural supply chain. Here’s how our efforts are making a lasting impact:
1. SDG 2: Zero Hunger – Trade Volumes of Sustainable Produce
By tracking increases in trade volumes of sustainably produced food, we contribute to global food security. Our efforts ensure that healthy, sustainably grown food is accessible across global markets.
2. SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – Job Quality
Sustainable farming and logistics must benefit the people behind the produce. We measure improvements in wages, working conditions, and worker rights, tracking fair-wage jobs created and enhancing labor conditions across the supply chain.
3. SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – Price Premiums for Farmers
Ensuring that farmers, especially in emerging markets, are fairly rewarded for sustainable practices is key. We monitor price premiums paid to these farmers, enabling better livelihoods and reducing inequalities within the agricultural sector.
4. SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Emission Intensity
By tracking and reducing carbon emissions per unit of production—from farm to table—we lower the environmental footprint of the agricultural supply chain. Detailed carbon footprint analyses at every stage help ensure responsible production processes..
5. SDG 13: Climate Action – Carbon Reduction Initiatives
We support measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions through the adoption of climate-smart technologies and sustainable farming practices. These initiatives pave the way for a more climate-resilient agricultural future.
6. SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Global Collaboration
Collaboration is at the heart of driving sustainability. We track the number and quality of partnerships across suppliers, service providers, buyers, regulators, and financial institutions. By aligning efforts and adopting global sustainability standards, we work collectively to achieve shared goals.
AgrigatOne would like to extend thanks to UNIDO for the incredible opportunity and for recognising us with this award as part of their FoodTech and Global Call initiative. Together, we’re building a smarter, more sustainable future for agriculture.
